“Punctum Times” is a fine art periodical printed on newsprint by rotary press and published since 2006. The publisher and editor, Issei Teramoto, features various artists, photographers, designers, and poets. The first nine issues contain news and interviews and are printed as broadsheets. Since the tenth issue, published in November 2009, each issue features a single artist and is printed in in tabloid format.

This Kumano issue contains 6 photographs by Suzuki and interview with Suzuki by the photo critics Mariko Takeuchi and Issei Teramoto. It also includes an essays by the novelists Nakagami Kenji and Noriko Nakagami and the poet Kozo Yoshimasu.

No.4 “Risaku Suzuki”

Published on the occasion of Suzuki’s solo exhibition, ‘Kumano, Yuki, Sakura’, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum in 2007, this issue contains 5 photographs by Suzuki, an interview with Suzuki by Mariko Takeuchi and Shigeo Gotoh, and a conversation with the photographer Katsumi Omori.

This issue collects images from Suzuki’s Tohno series. Suzuki became interested in the Tohno region after reading “Tale of Tohno” by folklorist Kunio Yanagida. Suzuki traveled to Iwate prefecture to seek the invisible presence which the residents once saw and handed down in the tales. Suzuki composed a photo sequence with 14 images for this issue.

This issue consists of the 13 photographs of two festivals; ‘Sang Hyang Jaran,’ an exorcism rite in Bali, Indonesia and ‘Kebesu,’ held in Ooita, Japan. Suzuki photographed spirits of the festivals focusing on the flare of the fire. Includes an essay by the art historian Toshiharu Ito.
